"NOMAD'S WINTER" FESTIVAL TO RUN

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ This year's "Nomad's winter" festival will be organized by Mongolia's Tourism Association /MTA/ on March 2-7. The "Ice festival" will take place on the Lake Khovsgol March 2 to present national art's performances, horse sleigh races, wrestling on ice, ankle bones shooting on ice, competition to strech a rope, ice skating, car skillfull driving, and skate's competition with prizes. The unique "Eagle's festival" will be organized at a tourist camp near the UB city on March 5. Various actions are expected such as selecting the best dressed and equipped horse riding hunter with his falcon, a "parade" of hunting eagles, a real hunt, a selection of the King falcon/eagle, a demo of the birds and their trainers' skills, and the Kazakh national play "kok-par"--a struggle of horse riding hunters for a shipskin. The "Thousand camels' festival" will run in Jargalant of Tov province on March 6-7. There you will be able to see the camel polo, camels' race, exhibition of camel wool products, art performance, and national costumes show. The festival allows people to learn more about the Bactian two-humped camel and to experience the desert herders' traditional nomadic lifestyle. Ch.Enkhtuya
