Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Uvs aimag counted two million 30 thousand 696 heads of livestock according to a final result of the livestock census of 2012. The number of camel reached 16,928 heads, of horse--70,431, cow--108,036, sheep--975,977, and goat--859,324 heads. Tes soum counted the largest number of horse, cow and sheep; Zavkhan soum--the biggest number of camel; and Naranbulag soum--of goat. All soums increased number of horse, cow and sheep, some soums declined numbers of camels and goat. In overall, the aimag increased its livestock by 198 thousand 863 heads against 2011. ** ** ** Over one million and 800 thousand heads of livestock are wintering in 83 bagas (the smallest administrative unit in localities) in 18 soums in Gobi-Altai aimag. According to a meteorology report, 90 per cent of aimag's territories have been covered by snow, its thickness has reached 15-25 cm in some places, 35-40 cm in mountainous areas, and 50-70 cm in ravines. Due to early autumn and snow in 2012, the pasture lands have shrunk. The cold weather has worsened conditions in Gobi places of Shuis, Sharga and in southern Gobi side of Altai. The natural disaster as "dzud" has already spread in Bayan-Uul, Yosonbulag, Tonkhil, Togrog, Bugat, Khaliun and Delger soums, they have been given 140 tons of hay and 70 tons of fodder. B.Khuder
