New head of OSCE mission in Ashgabat arrives in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Aug.1 /Trend H.Hasanov/ President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received the newly appointed head of the center of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Ashgabat, Ivo Petrov, the Turkmen government reported on Wednesday. The diplomat conveyed greetings from the OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zanera. During the meeting the Turkmen leader emphasized that the partnership with the OSCE has a constructive character and plays an important role in the consolidation of efforts to address the pressing problems of today. They exchanged views on the prospects of further development of partnership between Turkmenistan and the OSCE. Petrov said neutral Turkmenistan is one of the key partners of the OSCE in the region. The President of Turkmenistan and the Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat noted the importance of further consolidation of efforts in such important area as the threats and challenges of the times - international terrorism and transnational crime. The fuel and energy sector, where Turkmenistan, having profound hydrocarbon potential, made a number of international initiatives to ensure global energy security, was called one of the priority areas of cooperation. It was noted that these initiatives, as well as diversification strategy implemented by Turkmenistan's export energy routes were supported by the OSCE, which expresses the desire to continue the dialogue on energy issues. Parties are implementing joint projects in the economic and environmental spheres, as well as to support small and medium enterprises and development of transport links. Do you have any feedback?
