Mortazavi to remain at his post - first vice president of Iran

Azerbaijan, Baku, Aug. 1 /Trend S.Isayev, T. Jafarov/ Saeed Mortazavi will remain at his position as head of Iran's social security organization, the First Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi said, IRNA reported. Yesterday Fars reported that Mortazavi has been dismissed from his position, as ordered by the Iranian administrative court. Rahimi noted that since Iran's social security organization is an NGO, the administrative court cannot dismiss Mortazavi from his position. A parliamentary report issued on January 10, 2010 blamed Mortazavi for sending 147 inmates, charged with involvement in the political unrest that occurred after the Iranian presidential election of June 2009, to the substandard Kahrizak detention center on July 9, 2009. In 2011, Tehran's Military Court dismissed Mortazavi after a series of tragic incidents in the Kahrizak Prison. The court discussed cases over two other judges in connection to the incident. The court dismissed all three persons from their posts. Do you have any feedback? Contact our journalist at agency@trend.az
