MONGOLIA AT MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE
Ulaanbaatar,/MONTSAME/ The 7th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) started November 30 in Geneva, Switzerland.
Mongolia has participated in the Ministerial Conference in the years 2001, 2003 and 2005 since it joined the WTO in 1997. The Ministerial Conference is the main decision-maker of the WTO, and is held every two years.
This year's conference is running under a theme “The WTO, the Multilateral Trading System and the Current Global Economic Environment”. The WTO members are aiming to make a general conclusion on system of the multilateral trade and to express their positions on the related issues.
The present Doha Negotiations which are being carried out in the scope of the WTO have an importance in increasing profits of global trade activities of low income and developing countries and in promoting their participation in the international trade.
Mongolia has been represented by a delegation headed by L.Orgil, the Ambassador to Switzerland and a permanent representative to the UN headquarters in Geneva and other international organizations. The delegation will express its position on the multilateral system of trade and on the WTO. A position to accelerate the WTO Doha Negotiations will be expressed as well.
The conference will last until December 2.
