MONGOLIA TO GIVE 10 THOUSAND US DOLLARS TO SYRIA

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The government of Mongolia has decided to give a financial aid of USD 10 thousand to Syrian Arab Republic, respecting an appeal of the international community to give donations and humanitarian assistance to this country.
The Charge d'affaires of Mongolian Embassy in Kuwait Mr D.Batsaikhan reported this news during international conference on aid to Syria and its refugees on Wednesday in El-Kuwait city.
Chaired by Mr Ban Ki-moon, the United Nations Secretary-General, this conference has brought together representatives of 63 countries, including the State Heads of Jordan, Lebanon, Crown Prince of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrein, the Speaker of the Algerian National Assembly, the Deputy Premiers of Luxembourg and Libya, and the Foreign Ministers of Bulgaria, Morocco, India, Qatar and Mauritania. There are also officials and authorities of the UN and its specialized organizations, the League-Arab Nations, the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, the European Commission and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The participants have put forward a proposal on creating an open boundary zone in order to render necessary foods and assistance to civilians and refugees of Syria. It has been calculated that USD 1.5 billion is required to help the Syrian refugees in the first six months of this year. The UN Secretary-General said many countries and humanitarian international organizations already have given them donations exceeding the targeted size.
For the time being, two million people have lost their homes, 664 thousand people have fled from their homeland due to a civil war in Syria. The number of the refugees is expected to reach one million by June of 2013.
