MFA calls heads of UN FAO and IFAD to assist in development of ecology of Kyrgyzstan

As part of an official visit to Italy, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev met on Nov. 10 with Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Qu Dunyu and President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Gilbert Ungbo, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reported. The heads of FAO and IFAD noted the importance of strengthening cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and UN organizations in the field of agriculture and food. Kazakbaev noted the importance of developing cooperation between Kyrgyzstan with FAO and IFAD on the implementation of projects on food security and the promotion of Kyrgyz agricultural products. He emphasized that the Kyrgyz side is ready to conduct open negotiations with FAO and IFAD on the entire spectrum of issues in the spirit of constructive dialogue. Ruslan Kazakbaev informed the heads of FAO and IFAD about the promotion of the resolution of the UN General Assembly by the Kyrgyz side on declaring 2022 the International Year of Mountains within the UN. In this context, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan called on FAO and IFAD to provide active assistance to the Kyrgyz side, noting that the adoption of the resolution will give an impetus to the development of a sustainable ecological and socio-economic state of mountainous countries.
