Kyrgyzstan, South Korea to consider number of joint projects in various fields

The 14th Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum at the level of foreign ministers of the Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan took place on Tuesday in Tajikistan’s capital city of Dushanbe. The Kyrgyz delegation, consisting of representatives of ministries and agencies of the country, was headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Ruslan Kazakbaev. The minister briefed on the current internal political situation in the republic, in particular on the first parliamentary elections after the entry into force of the new Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic in May 2021. Kazakbaev reported that 735 international observers representing 14 electoral and 20 international organizations, including the SCO, CSTO, CIS, TurkPA, as well as the OSCE/ODIHR international mission, monitored the elections from over 50 countries. "The international observers positively assessed the organization of the elections to the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic," the report says. The minister also urged the parties to implement joint projects in health, environment, hydropower and digitalization. "Currently, the main focus of the Kyrgyz government is to promote the digital foundations of state development. Kyrgyzstan has already achieved certain successes in the digitalization of the electoral system, integration and interaction of government agencies through Tunduk unified system, implemented with the participation of KOICA. In this regard, Kazakbaev expressed hope to continue cooperation with the Korean side in this direction.
