Kyrgyz speaker meets with President of Federal Council of Austria Peter Ruggl

Bishkek, Sept. 8, 2021. / Kabar /. Within the framework of participation in the 5th World Conference of Speakers, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Talant Mamytov met with President of the Federal Council of Austria Peter Ruggl in Vienna, Austria, on September 7.
According to the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament, the main purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation. At the same time, during the talks, the sides touched upon all aspects of interstate interaction.
It was emphasized that a regular dialogue has been established between the two countries, contributing to the expansion of ties, and Kyrgyzstan and Austria are important partners of each other in Central Asia and the European Union. In this regard, the upcoming 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and Austria in 2022 was noted.
Talant Mamytov assured the Austrian partner that the Kyrgyz Republic remains committed to its international obligations and the implementation of previously signed bilateral and multilateral international treaties.
In turn, Ruggl thanked the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh for the fact that the Kyrgyz side took part in the World Conference of Speakers, despite the tight schedule and the current epidemiological situation in both countries. The president of the Austrian Federal Council stressed that the parliamentary democracy of Kyrgyzstan is of keen interest in the political circles of Austria.
Discussing bilateral political cooperation, mutual interest was declared in expanding and deepening cooperation between the two countries, and the hope was expressed that this meeting would in every possible way contribute to the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation. The sides agreed to intensify cooperation between the parliamentary friendship groups of the two countries, as well as to make more efficient use of multilateral platforms, including such as the annual winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Vienna.
The speakers especially noted that the two countries share similar positions on such issues as global security, the fight against terrorism and illegal migration, and the development of the world economy. In this regard, the agreement on mutual support of candidates to the elected bodies of the UN and other international organizations was emphasized, as well as the intention of the parties to continue actively cooperating on issues of mutual support.
