Kyrgyz Parliament speaker meets with chairman of Mazhilis of Kazakhstan

Bishkek, Sept. 7, 2021. / Kabar /. As part of the participation of the delegation of the Jogorku Kenesh in the 5th World Conference of Speakers in Vienna (Austria), Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Talant Mamytov met with Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatulin, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported. At the beginning of the meeting, the speaker greeted the chairman of the Mazhilis and expressed condolences on behalf of the Jogorku Kenesh in connection with the death of citizens of Kazakhstan in an explosion in a military unit in Bayzak region of Zhambyl Oblast. Mamytov noted the historically formed fraternal roots between the two peoples and the need to preserve the common cultural and spiritual heritage. He emphasized the historically important role of First President of Kazakhstan-Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev in the formation of independence and development of Kazakhstan, and also congratulated on the jubilee holiday of the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence. Continuing the conversation, the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh discussed the development of bilateral relations in the face of new challenges of our time such as COVID-19. The sides stressed the need for close cooperation on health issues in order to effectively combat the global pandemic. One of the important issues of discussion was the aggravation of the situation in Afghanistan and the need to unify some laws regarding the security of the two states. Talant Mamytov informed the Kazakh side of the official lifting of all restrictions on crossing the state border by citizens of Kazakhstan. In this regard, the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh appealed to the chairman of the Mazhilis of Kazakhstan with a request to remove on a parity basis the restrictions on crossing the borders of Kazakhstan by citizens of Kyrgyzstan. During the meeting, the sides also discussed cooperation within the framework of inter-parliamentary organizations and issues on the agenda of the upcoming Meeting of the TURKPA Council, which will be held in Turkestan, September 27-28, 2021. At the end of the meeting, the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh invited his counterpart Nurlan Nigmatulin to pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan and jointly hold the second meeting of the Interparliamentary Council.
