Kyrgyz FM Jeenbek Kulubaev receives US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu

Bishkek, May 23, 2022 / Kabar /. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev received U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu.
Donald Lu is in Kyrgyzstan as part of a tour to Central Asian countries, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
During the meeting, the sides discussed topical issues of Kyrgyz-American relations, as well as the regional and global agenda and noted the importance of building up practical cooperation, which has a positive impact on the socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan. In this regard, the possibilities of increasing investment cooperation were considered.
In addition, the minimization of the negative impact of international sanctions on the economy of Kyrgyzstan, as well as the need to intensify assistance in strengthening border security were considered.
The sides stressed the importance of interaction between countries within the framework of the C5 + 1 platform.
At the end of the conversation, the sides reaffirmed their mutual intention to continue a constructive dialogue on a wide range of bilateral cooperation.
Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu leads a U.S. delegation to Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan May 23-27 to strengthen U.S. relations with the region and advance collaborative efforts to create a more connected, prosperous, and secure Central Asia.
The delegation is comprised of the National Security Council’s Senior Director for Russia and Central Asia Eric Green, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Central Asia Rebecca Zimmerman, U.S. Agency for International Development Deputy Assistant Administrator of the Bureau for Asia Anjali Kaur, and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Naz El-Khatib.
