Kyrgyz and Canadian FMs discuss situation around Kumtor field

Bishkek, June 3, 2021. / Kabar /. Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev discussed the situation around the Kumtor field with Canadian Foreign Minister Mark Garneau. The press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said that the conversation took place at the initiative of the Canadian side. The main topic of discussion was the situation around the Kumtor field. Thus, during the conversation, it was noted that the Kyrgyz Republic has always advocated the creation of a favorable climate for conscientious foreign investors and intends to continue to adhere to these principles. The importance of refusal from statements contributing to a one-sided perception of the situation around the Kumtor project was also emphasized, the report said. At the same time, Kazakbaev stressed that respecting national legislation and environmentally friendly, conscientious foreign investors are welcomed in Kyrgyzstan to conduct an honest, open and successful business. In conclusion, the sides also considered other issues on the bilateral agenda.
