Jubouri: statements of Zobae about selling MOD post deal reveal his desire to get a post

Baghdad (NINA) - MP from the Iraqiya Slate, Wasat Coalition, Saleem Al Jubouri, said the statements made by former Deputy Prime Minister, Salam Al Zobae, about selling of the Minister of Defense post by leaders of Tawafuq (accordance) Front during the formation of the previous government expresses the desire of Zobae to obtain a post in this government. He said, in a press statement "the Wasat Coalition demands opening a wide investigation about the statement given by Zobae," expressing surprise about Zobae’s not talking about this subject when he was Deputy Prime Minister. Jubouri continued "if Zobae had any evidences, we side with him in fighting any case of corruption," asking Zobae to provide evidences and names that prove his charges and not just set fine words, which is not enough to direct charges. "The issue of selecting security ministers in the previous government, which the Accordance Front was part of it took place through the agreement of all parties," Jubouri said, adding that the National Alliance agreed on Defense Minister Abdul Qader Al Obeidi, therefore, the Accordance Front approved Jawad Al Bolani, for the Interior Ministry.” He asked if that holds members of the NA part of the responsibility for their agreement to choose the former MOD. The former Deputy Prime Minister, Zobae, accused the Accordance Front of giving up the MOD post in the last government to Al Obeidi for $10 million. Al Obeidi said yesterday that taking the MOD post in the previous government was voted on by the Parliament, not by political or commercial deal, threatening to sue Zobae for his statements. /End/
