Jeenbekov: For me above all - integrity of our country, unity of people, harmony in our society

"For me above all is the integrity of our country, the unity of the people, harmony in our society," Sooronbay Jeenbekov stressed today at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh. “Yesterday it was exactly three years since I was elected to the post of President of the country. The basis of my three-year activity was the fulfillment of my key campaign promises made in 2017,” he said. Jeenbekov stressed that a new countdown began on Oct. 6 and these days were the most difficult period for every Kyrgyz citizen. “I have made every effort to return the country to the legal field. I conducted consultations with both well-known figures of the country and partners. Hundreds of my compatriots expressed their concern and gave advice. Once again I became convinced that for all of us there is no greater value than the interests of our country,” he said. “The efforts of civil society and the media these days were aimed at proving that Kyrgyzstan is a legal country. I am grateful to all of you for your civil position,” Jeenbekov noted. Taking this opportunity, Jeenbekov thanked the leadership of partners who are not indifferent to the fate of Kyrgyzstan, including the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, the United States, Great Britain, the United Nations, the European Union and TURKPA. “These days, I made every effort, listening to the voices of people who said that "in such a difficult time for the country, the head of state has no right to resign, it is irresponsible." But for me above all is the integrity of our country, the unity of the people, harmony in our society. For me, the most precious thing is the health of every citizen, the life of every compatriot. And I decided to leave the presidency in order to preserve peace in our country and prevent a split in society,” he said. Jeenbekov also voiced intention to continue to use his experience, accumulated over the past years and during work in various positions, including as president, in the interests of the people. He expressed deep gratitude to all Kyrgyzstanis who believed in him and supported all these three years of the presidency, all branches of government, state and local bodies with which they worked together, their staff, civil society and the media. At the end of his speech Jeenbekov wished success to the new government, which has placed responsibility for the fate of the country and people on their shoulders.
