Japan, Cambodia Agree to Boost Economic Ties

Sendai, Miyagi Pref., March 15 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his Cambodian counterpart, Hun Sen, Sunday agreed to strengthen economic relations between the two countries. Japan is ready to cooperate to establish direct air service between the two countries early after they signed a bilateral civil aviation treaty in January, Abe told Hun Sen in a meeting held on the sidelines of the third U.N. World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in the northeastern Japan city of Sendai. Abe asked Hun Sen to do more to improve the Southeast Asian country's investment environment. The two leaders confirmed their countries' plan to exempt visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and official passports. Stressing Japan's path as a pacifist state for 70 years since the end of World War II, Abe said his country will contribute more to global peace and prosperity based on its proactive pacifism policy. Hun Sen said Japan is playing an important role for world peace and stability. END
