Italy hosts XIV World Congress of Russian Press

XIV World Congress of Russian Press (WCRP) is being held under the aegis of ITAR-TASS news agency in Naples, Italy on Sept. 24.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent the greetings to the participants and guests of the World Congress.
"Your traditional meetings each year strengthen the positions and make a significant contribution to the expansion of Russian-language information space," the Russian president said. "They unite all those who love our country and genuinely interested in its successful development, promote the Russian language and culture, form Russia's positive image in the world."
The Russian President expressed hope that participants of the World Congress of Russian Press give priority to the historical education, the themes of preserving common historical memory, respect for national spiritual heritage during the Year of Russian History.
Chairman of ITAR-TASS board Vitaly Ignatenko and chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin will deliver speech at an opening ceremony. Mayor of Naples and head of the Italian national organizing committee of the Congress will welcome the participants from the Italian side.
Trend news agency director general Ilgar Huseynov, AzerTAc director general Aslan Aslanov, heads of Zerkalo (Mirror) and Azerbaijani news newspapers attend the congress from Azerbaijan.
The participants will discuss the urgent problems faced by the media in the world. The agenda includes the issues "A new era of media and the Russian-speaking world information space" and "Social media and traditional media".
It is planned to discuss the most important aspects of new media's impact on the status of traditional Russian media abroad.
More than 300 representatives of the national media, publishers of the Russian Press, heads of media outlets from 50 countries gathered on the banks of the Bay of Naples in the southern capital of the Apennines at the invitation of the World Association of Russian Press (WCRP).
Local authorities will hold the solemn event in honor of the participants and guests of the Congress at the famous theater "San Carlo" - the first opera house in Europe today, ITAR-TASS reported. It was founded in 1737, i.e. - 41 years before "La Scala" in Milan. The most famous operas by Gioachino Rossini, Vincenzo Bellini, Gaetano Donizetti, Giuseppe Verdi were staged there. Russian stars Rudolf Nureyev, Ekaterina Maximova and Vladimir Vasiliev performed in the ballets.
