Italy freezes diplomatic relations with Syria

Azerbaijan, Baku, March 14 / Trend A.Taghiyeva / Italian authorities decided to recall the country diplomats serving at its embassy in Syria, TRT Haber TV channel reported on Wednesday. Rome also intends to freeze diplomatic relations with Syria. Earlier, France, USA, Switzerland and the UK announced about closure of their embassies in Syria. Anti-government protests which began in mid-March have persisted in Syria for almost a year. Daily reports are being received about the deaths of people, both civilians and the security forces. According to UN statistics, the total number of victims in the country exceeds 7,500 people.
