Israel repeats preparedness to help quake victims
ANKARA (A.A) - November 21, 2011 - Israel has repeated its call that it was ready to help victims of two massive earthquakes which recently hit Turkey's eastern province of Van.
The Israeli Embassy in Ankara stated on Monday that Israel was ready to support international humanitarian assistance efforts in the regions which were destroyed by the quakes.
The embassy noted that Israel, in coordination with Turkish government, sent more than 50 prefabricated houses as well as dozens of containers to help quake victims in strong winter condition.
If Turkish government needed, Israel was ready to extend more support, stated the embassy.
604 citizens were killed, while 222 citizens were rescued in the massive earthquake that hit Van on October 23, 2011. The number of citizens, who were killed in the second earthquake that hit Van on November 9, 2011, was 40, while 30 citizens were rescued alive. First earthquake was measuring 7.2 on Richter's scale, and the second one was measuring 5.6.
