Baghdad, Iraq (NINA) - The Iraqi government announced on Friday its efforts to coordinate with the Kuwaiti government to invite more than 70 countries to the donor conference to be held in Kuwait in February.
"In principle, the number of countries invited to the conference will not be less than 70 of our Arab brothers and friends in Europe, America and Asia, and we expect that the participation will be great in the conference," said Mahdi al-Alak, secretary-general of the Council of Ministers, .
"Baghdad and Kuwait have agreed that invitations at the ministerial level are likely to finalize the names of the countries invited next week," he said.
He added, "The conference will also witness the presence of many Arab and international organizations, including the United Nations, the European Union and the World Bank, which is a partner in the preparation of the conference in addition to the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development."
"International and regional development organizations will also be present at the conference as well as active participation of civil society organizations, which will be involved in the theme dedicated to discussing humanitarian operations, supporting stability in the liberated areas, and ways to support community reconciliation processes," he said.
The donor conference for the reconstruction of Iraq is scheduled to be held in Kuwait in the first half of next February with the aim of mobilizing support for the reconstruction of liberated cities from Daesh./ End
