Iraqi Foreign Minister meets Ban KI-moon in Washington

Washington / NINA / UN Secretary-General Ban Ki -moon expressed concern about the degradation of the security situation in Iraq and called on Iraqi leaders to serious dialogue. A statement issued by the Office of the Secretary General, after his meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari said that "Ban Ki-moon expressed concern over the political crisis and the degradation of the security situation in Iraq, calling on Iraqi leaders once again to engage in serious dialogue and accelerate the process of reconciliation." The statement pointed out that Ban Ki - moon had briefed Zebari about the latest peace efforts on Syria in the wake of the announcement of holding the conference of Geneva ( 2 ) mid-November and thanked Iraq to receive a number of Syrian refugees . The two officials stressed the need for additional resources to help Iraq to respond to the humanitarian crisis faced by the Syrian refugees. / End
