Iran to use electronic bracelets on felons

Azerbaijan, Baku, May 16 / Trend S.Isayev, T. Jafarov/ Iran will use electronic bracelets to monitor the convicted felons, Mehr quoted Head of Iran's prison organization Gholam Huseyn Esmaili as saying. Esmaili noted that the plan of changing old-fashioned prison cells for electronic bracelets is included in country's five year development plan. He added that switching to new monitoring system would be good for both convicts and the authorities, since convicts with electronic bracelets would not be occupying prison space. Esmaili also said that a convict would be given a specific territory, beyond which he wouldn't be allowed to go. Electronic tagging is a form of non-surreptitious surveillance consisting of an electronic device attached to a person or vehicle, especially criminals, allowing their whereabouts to be monitored. In general, devices locate themselves using GPS and report their position back to a control centre, for example via a cellular (mobile) phone network. Do you have any feedback?
