Iran’s Defense Minister says Western countries’ unilateral decisions tackle their own economic problems

Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 30 / Trend S.Isayev, T. Jafarov/ The Western countries take unilateral decisions only further enhance their own economic problems, Iranian Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najar told RT TV channel in an interview. "The United States made a big mistake that will lead to disruption in the oil and energy markets, and this can simply become a factor of increasing oil prices," Najar said. "In these circumstances, the West is facing the fall of Euro, and more economic problems, which they cannot tackle." "Oil and energy markets will suffer from instability and turmoil, and this will not only raise the oil and energy prices, but also threaten markets' security," Najar added. Najar noted that they're "not worried about the Islamic Republic of Iran, as effective plan has been created, and the country will move forward". On Jan. 23, EU foreign ministers agreed on Iran's oil embargo banning EU countries from buying Iranian oil in six months. When current oil contracts for Iran's oil expire, about 27 countries that make up the EU cannot sign new ones. The new sanctions will also freeze some of the Iranian Central Bank's assets. Totally, Iran exports about 2.2 mbpd of oil. Do you have any feedback? Contact our journalist at agency@trend.az
