Investigation of the road accident of a tourist bus in Kyrgyzstan
Bishkek, 12 August, (Khabar) - The first results of investigation of traffic accident that killed 8 people became known.
Seven of died tourists are Kazakhstani citizens. A tourist bus carrying Kazakh tourist coming back home after their holidays at Lake Issyk-Kul has overturned not far from the Kyrgyz capital city of Bishkek. The traffic accident occurred when eyewitnesses say the bus was driving at a high speed.
As a result, the driver lost control of the vehicle, veered to the opposite side of the road, collided with an oncoming Mercedes car and overturned after hitting a concrete barrier. It is still which driver the first began the dangerous manoeuvres, which caused tragedy.
Temirkan Subanov, deputy minister of interior affairs of KR:
- He had no even brake and the bus was driving at high speed and grappled Mercedes and dragged it then fell into the cuvette where a concrete slab was lying. Mainly those people died who fell on that slab.
It turned out that the bus that was carrying Kazakhstani tourists, was
assembled in 1972 but the driver managed to get the license for
transportation of passengers. According to the legislation of Kyrgyztsan, the age of transport means is not limited and now the traffic policemen consider this mistake must be corrected and work of traffic police must be toughened. Temirkan Subanov says that serious road accidents often take place just at night.
But transport officials don't see any guilty in driving of old bus. Auto inspection held the technical control of the bus two months ago and sealed the condition is satisfactory. The transport workers want to toughen control but auto inspection impedes them to do it.
Bolotbek Abubaliyev, chief transport inspector of KR:
- The post that was set up according to the resolution of government at 146th km of highway Bishkek- Karakol, was closed, dismantled and liquidated and taken to 40 meters to the north. So, the workers of chief department of safe traffic wanted to play the master. Just 10 days before that tragedy.
Bolotbek Abubaliyev says if the bus is stopped at the post, accident would be avoided. Meanwhile, a 47-year-old driver of the bus is in temporary jail now and he could be imprisoned for 10 years depending on results of investigation.
