House Speaker Meets British Ambassador To Iraq

Baghdad, Iraq (NINA) - The Speaker of the House of Representatives Salim al-Jubouri stressed the Parliament sought to pass the election law by urging the political blocs to reach a consensus on the points of contention. A statement to the media office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives said, "Jubouri received on Sunday British Ambassador to Iraq John Wilkes and discussed with him the most prominent political and security developments in Iraq and the region, and ways to strengthen relations between the two countries, also they discussed the file of the upcoming elections and support the displaced and reconstruction of liberated areas. " Jubouri added that "the parliament is striving for the adoption of the election law by urging the political blocs to reach a consensus on the points of contention that prevent the adoption," adding that "all parties bear responsibility for the success of the democratic experiment in the country by working to create all the conditions and requirements that contribute to the participation of all, without exception " Al-Jubouri stressed the importance of international support for Iraq in the reconstruction of its cities destroyed by terrorism and work hard for a speedy and safe return of displaced families. He added, "We look forward to a broad contribution by friendly countries, including Britain, in the donor conference for the reconstruction of Iraq to be held soon in Kuwait, which will contribute to overcoming many problems and enhancing security and stability in the country."
