HEALTH MINISTER PARTICIPATES IN 132ND WHO EXECUTIVE BOARD SESSION

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister for Health and member of the Executive board of the WHO, Ms N.Udval is participating in the WHO Executive Board's 132nd session in Geneva, 21-29 January. She expressed Mongolia's support to the reform of the WHO and noted that Mongolia has been successfully realizing project in frames of preventing and controlling non-infectious diseases. An “Alcohol-free Mongolian" initiative of Mongolia's President might be expanded and serve as a basis for the international Convention on controlling a hazardous usage of alcohol, she said. Besides it, Mongolian parliament approved a new wording of the draft law on tobacco control in October of 2012, she added. The meeting is discussing the WHO Reform, Non-communicable diseases (prevention and control, surveillance, mental health, disabilities), Millennium Development Goals, IHR, vaccines, universal health coverage and other issues. The World Health Assembly is the supreme decision-making body for WHO. It generally meets in Geneva in May each year, and is attended by delegations from all 194 Member States. Its main function is to determine the policies of the Organization. The Health Assembly appoints the Director-General, supervises the financial policies of the Organization, and reviews and approves the Proposed programme budget. Ch.Enkhtuya
