Governors of Aden and Lahij survive assassination attempt

ADEN, 6th January 2016 (WAM)--- The governor of Aden, Aidarous Al Zubaidi and the governor of Lahij, Nasser Al Khabji, have survived a car bomb attack targeting his convoy in al-Enma' residential district, the state Yemen News Agency reported Tuesday. The incident comes days after the Aden security authorities imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the city following gun battles between militants and government security forces at the seaport. The two governors were accompanied by Chief of Security of Aden, Brigadier Shallal Shaea', when terrorists attacked their convoy, a local official security source told the agency. The attack killed two bodyguards and left seven others injured. The source said the three officials were not hurt in the attack. On Sunday, the security commission of Aden Governorate imposed a curfew from 8pm to 5am on Aden City after militants laid siege to the seaport in Mualla district in a bid to force out the government security forces.
