Georgian ruling party postpones congress for a week

Congress of the National Movement party has been postponed for a week, and the event planned in 11 cities in Georgia instead of September 1 will be held on September 8.
The postponement of the congress is due to the death of three Georgian special forces soldiers in a special operation on the Dagestan section of the Russian-Georgian border, ruling party spokeswoman Chiora Taktakishvili said.
"These people died for the security of Georgia and the Georgian people. By decision of the party we want to honor those who died and therefore postponed Congress for a week. On behalf of the National Movement we offer our condolences to the bereaved families," Taktakishvili said.
Presentation of the National Movement will be held simultaneously in 11 cities in Georgia.
The Georgian Interior Ministry has been carrying out the operation to free the hostages and detain an armed group of saboteurs revealed near the border with Dagestan.
According to the information, a group of saboteurs who captured three groups of hostages consisting of civilians came through the border from Russia to Georgia. The group of hostages includes two or possibly three people. At the moment, all the hostages have been released.
