Georgian president, Spanish MP discuss bilateral relations

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili received the Spanish Congress of Deputies (lower house) Foreign Relations Committee chairman Josep Antoni Duran.
As the Georgian presidential administration said, Saakashvili familiarised the guest with the implemented and planned projects in Georgia and successful reforms and changes in the country.
Duran welcomed the political, economic and social reforms and said that Georgia is a leader in the region in this regard. On behalf of the Spanish Parliament, he expressed full support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and said that his country welcomes and supports Georgia's aspiration to NATO and the EU.
Both sides discussed bilateral relations and economic cooperation and outlined future prospects. Duran said he hopes that parliamentary relations between Georgia and Spain will become even more intense. One of the topics of conversation was the possibility of Spanish investments in Georgia.
The representative of the Spanish Congress of Deputies displayed interest in the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia and focused on the need for de-occupation of these regions as well as stressing that Russia must fulfil its obligations under the 2008 agreement.
The meeting was attended by the Georgian Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee chairman Akaki Minashvili and Ambassador Zurab Pololikashvili.
