FROC chief survives no confidence vote

BANGKOK, November 28 (TNA) - Thai Justice Minister Police General Pracha Promnog, who is also director of the government's Flood Relief Operations Centre (FROC), has survived a no confidence vote, after a one-day censure debate grilled against him by the opposition camp on Sunday. Police General Pracha survived the no confidence motion lodged by the main opposition Democrat Party with the majority vote of 273:188, with five abstentions. Fifteen MPs chose not to cast any type of vote on Monday morning. The justice minister, in his capacity as the FROC chief, was alleged by the opposition for mishandling and corruption concerning the procurement and distribution of government relief packs for flood victims. House Speaker Somsak Kiartsuraont, who is also Thai Parliament President, later informed the MPs of a recession of the present ordinary parliamentary session as of November 29, 2011, as approved by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej in a royal command, after it first convened on August 1, 2011.
