Free Syrian Army shoots down helicopter over Damascus

Azerbaijan, Baku, Aug. 27 / Trend A.Taghiyeva / The Free Syrian Army announced on Monday that it shot down a military helicopter of government troops over Damascus, Al Arabiya TV channel reported. Information about the helicopter was confirmed by the Syrian authorities. The Syrian state news agency said that the helicopter was shot down by insurgents. No information was reported as yet about the dead. Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for about 17 months. According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is nearing 20,000 people. More than 230,000 people became refugees. About three million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say that they oppose the well-armed militants. Do you have any feedback?
