Former Iranian president’s daughter arrested

The daughter of former Iranian President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani arrested, Mehr News Agency reported on Sunday.
Faezeh Hashemi sentenced to prison because she had participated in "illegal" riots protesting Iran's disputed presidential elections in 2009.
Faezeh and four other unidentified family members of Rafsanjani were arrested after they "allegedly" took part in "unauthorized protest rallies" in central Tehran, Press TV reported on 21 June 2009.
After a day, all of them were released, but Tehran Revelatory Court sentenced Faezeh to 6 months in prison last year. She is banned from political activities for five years.
The elder Rafsanjani is chairman of the Assembly of Experts, which is responsible for appointing or removing the supreme leader.
Iran's tenth presidential election was held on 12 June 2009. Iran's Interior Ministry that is executive responsible for elections announced President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won 62.63 percent of the total ballots in presidential election, while his main rival Mir-Hossein Mousavi got 33.75 percent.
After the official declaration, Mousavi, who is currently under house arrest, protested "strongly" the"obvious" violations in Iran's presidential election. Mousavi's supporters have participated in massive rallies in Tehran and other cities over the past days, which have been labeled by the authorities as "illegal."
