Foreign ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Italy hold talks in Tashkent

Bishkek, Dec. 9, 2021 / Kabar /. Within the framework of participation in the Central Asia + Italy Ministerial meeting in Tashkent, Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Luigi Di Maio.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, the heads of the foreign ministries noted the importance of building closer contact and expressed mutual interest in further expanding and strengthening trade, economic and investment cooperation with Italy, taking into account Kyrgyzstan's GSP + status. In this context, the sides noted with satisfaction the Kyrgyz-Italian business forum in Bishkek and planned to organize a country presentation on the economic and tourism potential of the country, which will give an additional impetus to attracting Italian investments to Kyrgyzstan.
The sides paid particular attention to the implementation of the agreements reached following Kazakbaev's visit to Rome, in terms of creating a Kyrgyz-Italian investment fund, considering the possibility of opening an Italian Embassy in Bishkek and expressed their readiness to organize visits of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov to Italy and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio to Kyrgyzstan in the first half of 2022.
During the meeting, the foreign ministers of the two countries expressed their firm intention to expand the legal framework between the countries and, reached an agreement on the soonest completion of all procedures on agreements, which are under the consideration.
In the context of regional security, a constructive exchange of views took place on the situation in Afghanistan, and the importance of joint cooperation in providing humanitarian and other assistance to the people of Afghanistan was noted.
Following the meeting, the sides noted the importance of strengthening and diversifying the areas of mutual interest.
