FMs of Kyrgyzstan and Turkey discuss strategic cooperation

Bishkek, Sept. 23, 2021. / Kabar /. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev discussed issues of strategic cooperation with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, within the framework of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan said that the meeting was held in the new building of the Turkish House in New York. During the meeting, the sides discussed the entire range of issues on the current agenda of the Kyrgyz-Turkish strategic cooperation, outlined priority areas for effective interaction, both in bilateral and multilateral formats for the near, medium and long term. The sides separately discussed the issue of the situation of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in Turkey. An exchange of views took place on issues of mutual support and further promotion of the Kyrgyz Republic's candidacy to the UN elected bodies, including the UN Human Rights Council for the period 2023-2025 and non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for the period 2027-2028, the ministry said. In addition, the foreign ministers exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and discussed the agenda of the upcoming CCTS Ministerial Council on Afghanistan. In conclusion, Cavusoglu confirmed the interest of the Turkish side to further develop active cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
