FM MEETS IPI PRESIDENT

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Bold received Tuesday a delegation headed by Mr Terje
Rod-Larsen, a Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General and president of the International Peace Institute (IPI).
When Mr Bold spoke about the 7th Ministerial Conference of the Community of Democracies (CoD), which will run this April in Ulaanbaatar, Mr Rod-Larsen expressed a readiness to collaborate with Mongolia in this conference. He also said the IPI wants to cooperate with Mongolia in specific matters and put forward some proposals.
Mr Bold touched upon a preparation for the CoD's Ministerial Conference, and raised issues of developing the collaboration. Then, the sides agreed to determine directions of the collaboration.
Founded in 1970 with a support from UN Secretary-General U Thant, the IPI is an independent non-profit research and policy development institution based in New York. The IPI specializes in multilateral approaches to peace and security issues, working closely with the Secretariat and membership of the UN. The IPI's primary objective is to promote effective international responses to new and emerging issues and crises through research, analysis, and policy development.
