EU countries deported over 700 Georgian nationals last year

Georgia, Tbilisi, April 30 / Trend N.Kirtzkhalia /
Some 768 citizens of Georgia were deported from European Union countries last year. According to Georgian National Statistics Office, the greatest figure of the deportees, according to data for 2009-2011, fell to seven EU countries: Poland - 648, Greece - 542, Germany - 452, Austria - 191, Spain - 172, France - 154, and the Czech Republic - 127.
The main reasons for deportation were illegal labour activities, illegal border crossing and the use of false documents by citizens of Georgia. There has been no evidence of Georgian citizens deported from Malta and Luxembourg.
The deportation of Georgian citizens from Europe became more active after the country signed a readmission agreement with the EU.
