EU committed to continue providing all possible assistance to Kyrgyzstan: special rep

Bishkek, Jan. 28, 2021. /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev received Ambassador, Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia Peter Burian. Peter Burian has arrived in Bishkek as part of participation in the inauguration ceremony of Kyrgyzstan's elected President Sadyr Zhaparov. The Kyrgyz side expressed gratitude for the EU's rapid response and statements of its additional support for emergency needs in the fight against coronavirus, and asked support for vaccination of the country's population. Minister Kazakbaev informed about the current internal political situation in Kyrgyzstan, stressing that the country is particularly interested in further strengthening and developing cooperation with the European Union in all areas of interaction. EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian noted the Union welcomes the stabilization of the political situation in the republic and is committed to continue providing all possible assistance to the Kyrgyz side. The parties also discussed the implementation of projects within the use by Kyrgyzstan opportunities of the HSP+ status granted by the European Union. They also noted the need to continue to increase the full range of bilateral cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the EU, including in the framework of the Union's project and program activities in republic.
