ENERGY MINISTER RECEIVES JAPAN'S AMBASSADOR

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Energy M.Sonompil received Tuesday Mr Takenori Shimizu, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia. They have discussed a project which will be implemented at the 4th Thermal Power Station company. Mr Shimizu asked about a course of this project, which is aimed at improving its effectiveness, and also about the 5th thermal power station to be constructed with a participation of the Japanese side. In response, the Minister thanked Japan for realizing many projects at the energy sector with non-refundable aid and government's soft loans. He said the first project was discussed by the cabinet and that the Ministry of Economic Development plans to submit it to the cabinet again. This project aims to reduce carbon emission and to renovate the turbine settings at the station. The project's research works were completed in July of 2012 by Japan's JPOWER company with a capital from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). About the 5th station the Minister said a land for it will be tackled after conducting an environment impact assessment in accordance with a decision made by the Administrative Council of Ulaanbaatar city.
