Diplomats of Uzbekistan and Italy discusses prospects of cooperation

Authority of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Italian Ambassador Riccardo Manar discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation on Wednesday, press service of the Foreign Ministry said.
It was noted at the meeting that relations between Uzbekistan and Italy are developing successfully during the 20 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. Mutual trade has been steadily increaseing and amounted to 187.5 million in 2011.
Thirty two companies with Italian capital operate in Uzbekistan, including 28 joint ventures and 4 companies with 100 percent share of Italian capital. The representation of four Italian firms and companies accredited to the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan. Large Italian companies such as Incanto group Srl, Italcementi spa, Itigroup srl, Danieli & C.Officine Meccaniche SpA are operating at the market of Uzbekistan.
A successful activity of Turin Polytechnic University in Uzbekistan can serve as a striking example of cooperation in the cultural field.
The Italian business community expressed their willingness to increase economic and industrial cooperation with Uzbekistan during the meeting of Uzbek-Italian working group on trade, economic and industrial cooperation and export credits, which took place in October 2011 in Tashkent.
The Italian businessmen particularly expressed interest in cooperation in the energy sector of Uzbekistan, as well as in the steel industry, textile industry and tourism.
Development of cooperation in tourism, which has gained considerable experience, is of mutual interest.
