DEMPARTY FACTION MEETS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A meeting of the Democratic Party's (DP) faction on Monday received information from the cabinet on measures being taken for reducing air pollution in Ulaanbaatar and on the "Street" project. Before starting this project, "we must receive opinions of those living in the ger (national dwelling) areas and do three kinds of work to reduce air pollution in the city," they said. Firstly, to cease a usage of a raw coal consumption and to support those producing a semi-coke briquettes, it would reduce the toxic content by 50 percent by the next year; to set up factories making for gers sheep wool covers and to support those introducing related technologies; to tackle an issue of constructing highways that will help develop satellite-towns. The faction decided to hear reports from the city's Mayor E.Bat-Uul and the Ministry of Construction and Urban Development next time. Another desicion was made to hear what will herdsmen tell about a bill on pastures, reflected in the draft law on lands, and a best solution for creating a mechanism of an co-operative. B.Khuder
