Date set for terror cell trial

Manama, April 22 (BNA)-- Eight suspects, five in custody and three still at large, have been referred by the Public Prosecution to the fourth High Criminal Court to stand trial on charges of forming and running a terror cell to disrupt the constitution and government institutions, wreak havoc and sow sedition. The suspects will appear before the High Criminal Court on April 30 after investigations have been completed into the murder of the three police martyrs First Lieutenant Taraq Mohammed Al Shehi and policemen Mohammed Arsalan and Ammar Abdou Ali Mohammed on March 3. The suspects are also facing charges of attempted murder of policemen after forming a terror cell named "Al-Ashtar Brigades" to make and use explosives to destroy vital facilities, disrupt public order and prevent the authorities from doing their work. They have been accused of making home-made bombs, planting three remotely-controlled explosive devices in different locations on prior knowledge of deployment of police officers there to maintain order, exploiting the funeral of a deceased to drag the police officers and detonate on of the bombs, killing three and injuring thirteen others.
