CD BOARD COUNCIL'S MEETING HELD IN GENEVA

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolia is attaching a great importance to the forthcoming Ministerial Conference of the Community of Democracies (CoD) which wll run this April in Ulaanbaatar. The Foreign Minister of Mongolia Mr L.Bold said it in opening remarks at the 7th meeting of the Board Council of the Community of Democracies (CoD) which ran Tuesday in Geneva, Switzerland. He hoped that Foreign Minister of those invited countries to the CoD Ministerial Conference. The Deputy Foreign Minister of Japan Ms Toshiko Abe said her country wants to actively participate in the CoD's actions and supported an initiative to set up a working group responsible for backing Cambodia and Myanmar who are transmitting into democracy. The participants discussed issues of inviting additional representatives of countries to the CoD Ministerial Conference and made related decisions. Then Mongolia gave a report on a draft declaration of Ulaanbaatar and on participation of states. In addition, working groups at the CoD reported their works done, and considered a rule of electing the next chairman country of the CoD. Members of the Board Council backed an issue of setting up the above working group. The Board Council meeting brought together high-officials from the CoD members; Ms Maria Leissner, the CoD Secretary-General; civil society delegates. The CoD has invited Foreign Ministers of some 150 countries and 20 international organizations to its Ministerial Conference. In addition, the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj has invited his counterparts from ten countries and famous political figures as honorary guests. For the time being, Foreign Ministers of over ten countries and heads of international organizations have reported to take part in the CoD Ministerial Conference, said Mr Bold. B.Khuder
