Borno's Sultan El-Kanemi: we should solve problems under the light of Islam

ISTANBUL (A.A) - November 21, 2011 - Sultan Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi of Borno State has said that they should solve the problems under the light of Islam as well as unite their forces. We need unity and integrity more than ever in the changing and globalizing world, added El-Kanemi who spoke at the 2nd Summit for Religious Leaders of Muslim Countries & Communities of African Continent in Istanbul on Monday. El-Kanemi said that he attended the meeting as the leader of Borno and Nigeria, and he congratulated Turkey for the interest it showed in the region. As regional countries, we should develop new initiatives. We need cooperation, unity and integrity more in the globalizing world. The basis of globalization is science and technic. We need unity more especially in the aspect of science and technology. We will make necessary cooperation in this area, said El-Kanemi. Stressing that there had been a very rooted friendship between Borno and Ottoman Empire, El-Kanemi said that Turkey had always been important for Borno. Islam means improvement and development. It teaches honesty and brotherhood. We can solve problems more easily, if we set up good relations. There are many clashes and problems in Africa today. We can solve these problems only through dialogue, and thus we can bring peace and prosperity. I attach importance and congratulate Turkey for the efforts it exerted in education area. I believe we will achieve greater successes in the future, said El-Kanemi.
