Bayati: Iraq’s reservation to suspend Syria’s membership in the AL based on a strategic vision for national and regional security

Baghdad (NINA) - MP Abbas Al Bayati from the State of Law Coalition considered Iraq's reservation on the decision to suspend Syria’s membership in the Arab League based on a strategic vision for Iraq’s national and regional security. He added in a statement to NINA "the Iraqi reservation on suspending Syria’s membership in the AL based on the supreme national interest of Iraq, because the repercussions of what happens on the Syrian arena will reflect negatively on the security situation in Iraq and the countries of the region.” Bayati explained "Iraq presented the project of forming an Arab committee to lead an initiative with the Syrian government," describing the Iraqi situation as non-emotional basing on a strategic vision for the internal and external security," which will be significantly affected in case of cracks taking place inside Syria." MP from the Iraqiya Slate Haidar Al Mulla criticized Iraq's position of not supporting the Arab consensus about the suspension of Syria’s membership in the AL, saying that this attitude reflects Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki’s view, the Dawa Party, and some parties of the National Alliance. He added "the IS, expresses its denunciation and astonishment of Maliki's position in favor of authoritarian regimes at the expense of the oppressed people demanding freedom and democracy.” /End/
