Baku hosts TurkPA meeting

Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 3 / Trend , M.Aliyev / Baku opened the first meeting of the International Relations Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries (TurkPA) today. International Relations Commission Chairman and Azerbaijani MP Ahliman Amiraslanov the establishment of the TurkPA is of crucial importance for the Turkic-speaking counties. He said this structure will further develop the friendly and brotherly relations among the Turkic-speaking countries. Azerbaijani First Deputy Parliamentary Speaker Ziyafat Askerov spoke about the TurkPA's increasing importance. He expressed hope that Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan will join the structure. The TurkPA protects the common interests of the Turkic-speaking countries, Secretary General Ramil Hasanov said. He said the structure is expected to get a UN observer status in November-December 2011, which will up its international importance. The major aspects and prospects of the international cooperation of TURKPA will be discussed at the meeting. The meeting is expect to approve a report on the work done in the sphere of international relations and package of proposals for future activity with a view to being presented at the 3rd plenary session of TURKPA in Bishkek in 2012.
