Ambassador: Official delegations of Latin American countries and Azerbaijan to pay mutual visits

Aghayeva / Relations between Mexico and Azerbaijan are at a very high level, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Mexico, accredited also to Colombia, Ilgar Mukhtarov, told Trend. As is known, in 2011 Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov paid an official visit to Mexico, while this year on the Mexican side's invitation he attended an informal summit of G20 foreign ministers. "This year Mexico's Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan," Mukhtarov said. He said the parliamentarians of Mexico and Colombian senators are expected to visit Azerbaijan. "Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has been invited to pay an official visit to Colombia, and this year the visit will be paid". In the second half of the year, according to the diplomat, Azerbaijani Culture Days are expected to be held in Colombia. It is planned that Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev will visit Colombia with a large delegation. Work in this direction is underway," he said. "In addition, visit of the Colombian Commerce Minister to Azerbaijan and holding of the Azerbaijani-Colombian business forum are expected, he said. I think this visit will give impetus to economic cooperation between the two countries," he said. Columbia, as is known, is rich in energy resources, daily oil production reaches about one million barrels, and in this regard, the country is interested in cooperating with Azerbaijan to exchange experiences in this sphere, the diplomat said. He also said Colombia has taken interest in the defense sphere, namely the purchase of weapons. "Colombia has become interested in Azerbaijan as a weapon manufacturer," Mukhtarov said.
