934 suicides committed in Turkish army over past ten years

Azerbaijan, Baku, May 4 / Trend, A.Taghiyeva / Turkish Armed Forces have lost 1470 soldiers in non-combat situations over the past 10 years, CNN Turk quotes the Ministry of Defence as reporting. In general, the cause of the soldiers' deaths have been careless handling of weapons, traffic accidents and accident such as falling, death as a result of fire, drowning and suicide. Most of the soldiers' deaths in a non-combat situation were suicide. Some 934 soldiers committed suicide over the past 10 years. According to the defence ministry, their number continues to grow. Trying to prevent such incidents, the ministry has established psychological support centres in military units.
