240 people have been brought to Turkey from Libya
ISTANBUL (A.A) - 23.02.2011 - Around 240 people were brought from Libya to Turkey due to the ongoing turmoil in that country.
A Libyan Airlines flight brought 67 Turks back to Istanbul from Tripoli.
"We have been trapped at the Tripoli Port since February 21, and we were hungry and thirsty as the prices of everything were raised," Turkish citizen Ozkan Tetik told reporters at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.
Also speaking to reporters, Cemal Yamur said he was employed as a worker in Libya, and the conditions were really challenging in that country.
Moreover, Gunes Mengulluoglu said she had to leave her husband in Libya as he was working there, and there were people who wore clothes like peshmerges and who were carrying guns on Tripoli road.
Mengulluoglu said every one was restless in Libya.
Another plane carrying 173 passengers, including 167 Turks from Libya, landed at the Antalya Airport.
Two of the passengers were from Syria, two others were from Guinea, one from Morocco and one from Gambia.
The Memphis Airlines plane has brought staff and relatives of Ronesans construction company.
Speaking to AA correspondent, Orhan Kahveci, the chief of staff of the firm, said he had been working in Libya since 1985 and Libyan police, army and people behaved very well to Turks during the incidents.
"Turkish workers are being evacuated, and they are coming with charter jets hired from Egypt," Kahveci said.
Kahveci said some people proceeded to Egypt, and there were 3,000 workers in their company including 1,300 Turks.
Other workers would be brought to Turkey in groups, Kahveci also said.
