Malaysia's Sudanese Community Shows Solidarity in Calling For End to RSF Violations

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- The Sudanese community in Malaysia gathered in a show of solidarity at the Sudan embassy here Thursday calling for an end to violations by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Sudan’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Hassan A. Omer said the gathering was a resounding testament to the unbreakable bond between the Sudanese people and their armed forces in the ongoing power struggle with the RSF.

The ambassador also conveyed his profound gratitude to the Sudanese community in Malaysia for their steadfast support and unwavering solidarity with the Sudan Armed Forces, according to a statement made available Thursday, quoting Hassan as saying during the gathering.

He reaffirmed the Sudanese community's enduring commitment to the ongoing battle against the RSF.

He expressed his optimism for Sudan's future while emphasising the collective hard work and determination of the Sudanese people to pave the way for the nation to rise and lead as a beacon of hope and progress, added the statement.

Earlier, the community which comprised of concerned citizens and advocates took part in a peaceful protest in front of the United Nations (UN) office in federal administrative capital, Putrajaya.

They also presented a formal letter of protest to the UN General Secretary through the UN office in Malaysia, that stated the condemnation of reported actions by the RSF in Sudan and urged the international community to take immediate and decisive action to address the situation.

On April 16, Malaysia strongly condemned the ongoing hostilities between the Sudanese Armed Forces and RSF, said the Foreign Ministry.

It said that both sides should resolve any differences through peaceful means and avoid any actions that could further exacerbate tensions in the country.

Clashes between Sudan's army and the RSF paramilitary group erupted on April 15, with gunfire heard in several parts of Khartoum and witnesses reporting shooting in adjoining cities.

The tensions stem from a disagreement between the military headed by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the RSF led by General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo over how the paramilitary force should be integrated into the armed forces and what authority should oversee the process, Bernama reported.

In the latest development on Tuesday (Aug 8), the Sudanese army stepped up efforts to advance into the capital, Khartoum, triggering some of the most violent clashes since the crisis began.
