World Hijab Day celebrated in Bishkek

Bishkek, Feb. 2, 2021 / Kabar /. The World Hijab Day was celebrated in Bishkek.
A large-scale event with sweepstakes, contests and master classes is held in Bishkek.
Various religious and ideological activists delivered motivating speeches.
The organizers said that the event is held in order to establish a dialogue between women of different faiths.
“In Kyrgyzstan, the World Hijab Day has been held since 2016. For 5 years we managed to gather thousands of women all over the country who supported the event,” the organizers noted.
They noted that it is not necessary to wear a Muslim headscarf to participate in the action; representatives of different religions and nations will be able to put on a headscarf of their culture on this day.
The World Hijab Day was established in 2014 by Nazma Khan, an American activist who faced discrimination because of her faith since childhood. The brave girl was able to convey to women with different views the meaning of the headscarf and invited them to wear clothes for one day that hides all parts of the body as a sign of solidarity with Muslim women. Its idea was supported by 116 countries of the world, including Kyrgyzstan.
