UNICEF and WFP heads complete business missions in Kyrgyzstan’s Osh

Osh, April 21, 2021 . / Kabar / . Deputy Mayor of Osh city Emil Shadykhanov held a meeting with Head of UN World Food Programme Luke Patenaude and Head of UNICEF Office in Osh Eraj Kaniev. During the meeting, the deputy mayor, summarizing the results of joint work, thanked the leaders of the UN agencies for their contribution to the development of the city and the solution of local problems, while noting that during the period of cooperation many successful projects and initiatives have been implemented in the city. Emil Shadykhanov noted that with the support of WFP about 69 different social projects have been implemented in Osh in 2020, including a project to provide hot meals for school students. “In the area of maternal and child health UNICEF has conducted a number of promising and important initiatives, the city's children's hospitals have received ventilators and personal protective equipment, the Osh Oblast Maternity Hospital and the City Children's Infectious Diseases Hospital were renovated, the multi-profile center for family and child support was rehabilitated and its staff was trained. Together with the efforts of UNICEF and WFP, fencing was installed on the dangerous embankment area of the Aravan-Ak-Buura canal. We were sincerely glad to cooperate with you," Shadykhanov said. In their turn, Luke Patenaude and Eraj Kaniev thanked for the assistance in implementation of above-mentioned projects. The head of UN WFP and UNICEF completed their business missions in Osh.
